Veterinary Surgeon

Lincolnshire, UK

Job Type

FT or PT

The Role

Does this sound like someone YOU would like to work for?

An experienced veterinary surgeon with over 25 years experience, who performs advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures.

They are opening a brand new practice in Lincolnshire and are looking for two special vets to join them on the journey to achieve their vision - an excellent general practice offering high level surgical procedures, with 3 vets and 3 nurses from day one, and equipment that you would ordinarily not see until a practice was more established, things like dental x--ray, cardiac level ultrasound, endoscopy.

A track record of strong leadership having owned a practice previously for 15 years and having kept the exactly the same team from start to finish - incredible!

Having a solid team around them is really important. They treat their team like family and are respectful and loyal to the people who work hard for them. Even as an employed vet, they have supported their team of nurses to the nth degree, ensuring they were treated fairly by their employer and got the opportunities they deserved.

They value trust, respect, a strong work ethic, and loyalty from their team, and reciprocates it - in buckets!

A colleague from their last employed position gave an incredibly honest testimonial and described this person as someone with high values, high ethics, and expects high standards. They said they take the profession seriously and expects the same from others. That said, outside of the workplace or during a quiet period at work, they are so fun to be around. They are the person people gravitate towards at a party because they are so interesting, funny, and charming, and have so many fascinating stories to tell!

They have a natural affinity for teaching and showing people how to be better at their craft. Clinically, they are described as, "The best and most superior (clinically) orthopod I have worked with in this country". They are known for blowing people's minds with their mysterious x-ray vision. They are admired by many for their natural teaching ability and showing people how to master their craft.

Incredibly pro-nurse and recognises that the best vet in the world can't do a lot without good nurses. They feel nurses can do so much and has huge respect for them. They value the opinions, judgements, and advice of nurses, sometimes more than anyone else's.

In their team, there is no hierarchy. Everyone is considered equal, and they create an environment of great respect.

They are not afraid to pay well. They want to reward people and they work on the basis that if you do your best and the clinic grows, that your salary will grow too. Practice success isn't just about them, it's about YOU too. They think proactively about their team and how to help people grow, whether it's through courses or learning opportunities in house.

Their approach to setting up their practice is that they will aim to run the practice as though it were already a year or two old and closer to the vision than it is now. They are starting with the end in mind and intentionally carving it out from the beginning. They don't want to wait for things to happen, they are investing from day one, and creating the surgery they've always wanted to create, one that performs advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries combined with an excellent day to day veterinary service, with lots of continuity for clients in the team, a unique client journey that focuses on the experience of the owner and their pet, and a team of people who look forward to come to work and can do their jobs happily and comfortably.

The Practice

Working in a brand new clinic can be rewarding in so many ways!

- Be part of something new from the very beginning and help to shape the direction and future success of the practice. Feel a unique sense of contribution as the practice grows and evolves, knowing you have played a key part in it.

- Build new client relationships from scratch, and be part of a pet's journey from puppy/kitten to older pet. Go on the journey of pet ownership with the client, and feel a great sense of job satisfaction being a client's trusted vet.

- Working in a brand new, shiny, environment makes you feel good every day; it makes you feel a great sense of pride.

- This new practice will thrive, but from day one the pace will be slightly different to most, with space to breathe, be proactive with case discussion and management, and go the extra mile for clients. Then you can be part of ensuring the personal service continues as the practice grows.

- Build client relationships from scratch, and be part of a pet's journey from puppy/kitten to older pet. Go on the journey of pet ownership with the client, and feel a great sense of job satisfaction being a client's trusted vet.

- This is a new role in a new practice, so it can be shaped around the person and their individual needs, strengths, and interests, rather then you having to try and fit yourself into a defined role and rota. Do more of what you love, and spend more time in flow!
