GP Vet with Special Interest

Hampshire, UK

Job Type

Full Time

The Role

VET WITH MEDICINE INTEREST

As a team they already do medicine well, and being GPs with special interests they are all competent medics, but what they really want is someone who is enthralled and enthused by big medical cases and can do it even better than they do now.

They would love for someone to take the medicine side of the practice and drive it forward, as far as you would like to take it. They will support someone to diploma level!

The beauty of having GPs with specialities is that you won't be a medic working in isolation, you’re working in collaboration with the surgeons and the GPs. They want everyone in the practice to have a basic competency in everything.

They would love for you to have the opportunity to take charge of the area you’re most passionate about and drive this forward through bringing idea and suggestions, looking at improving protocols where appropriate and being proactive.

VET WITH SURGICAL INTEREST

There is more than enough surgical caseload here to accommodate three surgical vets.

You will work alongside a diploma holder surgeon who is keen to bring on a surgical protégé, and an advanced practitioner in surgery who also loves to share her knowledge and mentor others. The two existing surgical vets complement each other nicely as one favours soft tissue and the other loves orthopaedics. You have the opportunity to become a well rounded advanced surgeon here and possibly even study up to diploma level which is exactly what the owner of the practice has done (without going down the internship and residency route!)

GP VET

If you are a proud GP vet who loves a bit of everything, and more importantly loves to develop solid, bonded, trusting relationships with clients, then this is the place for you. The pet and the client is at the centre of everything they do and they are well known for the special attention they pay to client relationships.

*There is an opportunity for partnership for the right person"

Referral Work Combined with Traditional GP Values

The client (and pet) experience are something they pride themselves on as a practice. The pets are at the centre of everything they do, and they will do everything they can for them. They all have a love for puppy and kitten cuddles, but still want to do exciting advanced work. They have found the right balance here.

The Practice

The practice was born from the owner’s vision of building a first rate practice for the animals, but also more importantly a practice that does really high quality work in an atmosphere where everybody is included, everybody feels like part of the family and where people want to come to work. They opened this practice with the goal of creating a practice where people would be proud to come to work because they are doing top quality care and using the best possible equipment to do so.

Since 2014, the practice has grown to 5 vets, with plans to become a 7-8 vet team in the next couple of years.

The vision for the practice is to be a centre of excellence with top end GPs who all have special interests, and to utilise the strengths of the team to provide clinical strengths from all angles. This cutting edge practice offers quality 1st opinion and referral work, therefore making more complex procedures more accessible to clients and their pets, and fulfilling the raw desire of a vet to help more animals and to do the very best they can do with the best available skills in house and best available equipment. The practice offers the best of both worlds, the pride and fulfilment of meeting new and existing clients and their puppies and kittens and growing pets, with the ability to work up cases to the highest possible level and advance your skills above and beyond that of a normal general practice clinic ensuring you are doing the most you can do for each individual patient. The practice will continue to grow incorporating a range of skill sets to ensure that cases can be approach from a multi-disciplinary level and can be kept in house.

This is a growing practice in a high socio-economic area with decent earners who want to be involved in their pet’s cases and ask intelligent questions, so client communication is very important. The client (and pet) experience are something they pride themselves on as a practice. The pets are at the centre of everything they do, and they will do everything they can for them. They are the type of vets to get down on the floor with the patient, with plenty of toys and treats on hand so they can do everything at the animal’s pace. Even with 15 minute consults, they give each client (and pet) the time they need. As a practice, they receive second opinions from local practices and so giving the client the time they need is not also great for their experience and bond to the practice, but it allows the vets to get to the bottom of what’s going on.
