FAMILY RUN PRACTICE

Work for a family run practice with family values. Achieve your highest potential with professional and personal backing of the owners, who will give you the world and ensure you continue to grow and feel fulfilled. Increase your sense of purpose and contribution by taking ownership of their team improvement board, and help to shape the future of this highly regarded practice, without compromising on your quality of life.

We tend to find vets with a certain level of experience really begin to think about what direction to take next. Often, if you don’t hold a senior position, or work for a larger veterinary group where there’s already layers of management, you can feel a sense of frustration about not being able to make positive change, or have a real voice and influence over how things are done.

We are incredibly proud to be representing and working in partnership with an independently owned and family run practice in the north west. Family friendly, in every sense of the term, their team have had 5 new bundles of joy arrive this year alone and the owners do everything they can to ensure their team's roles fits around their family to ensure that nobody is compromising on time with their family or their career. The owners even work the majority of the weekends to ensure their vets have an exceptional quality of life!

They coach and manage their staff on an individual basis and recognise that people have different needs, requirements, career goals and motivations. The effort they put in is truly inspirational and to do so consistently is really impressive and easily falls by the wayside in many practices. They are laid back but lead by example. They encourage open and honest discussion and communication and don’t assign blame in the event of a mistake being made.

They are willing to give you the world, if you invest as much of yourself into the practice and the clients.

The Vision:

Their vision for the practice is to take their customer service to the next level and also expand the range of clinical services and expertise in-house. The lead vet is a very popular and well known vet in the community. What makes him successful with clients is their personal approach, exceeding client expectations not just meeting them. You’ll find him rolling around on the floor with dogs, but more importantly he really bonds with his clients. It’s the little things, like getting to know them on a personal level and remembering things about the client, like a recent holiday or asking about an ill family member. Their euthanasia process is equally as exceptional.

Progression Opportunities:

This practice is a long serving member of Vet Dynamics, a company we work very closely with, they offer a comprehensive range of business education, analytical and consultancy services for independent practices, essentially working with independents to actively work on improvement and development, so being a member of Vet Dynamics demonstrates the owners’ eagerness to remain at the forefront of innovations and being the best they can possibly be.

They want to take their team on this journey too and the vet they hire next they would like to get involved in the Vet Dynamics Academy, an 18 week course, covering topics such as:

· Veterinary Identity & Mindset

· Personal Planning & Time Management

· Talent Dynamics & Communication Skills

· Assertiveness & Emotional Intelligence

· Understanding Finance in Practice

· Managing Performance & Client Care

It’s about building resilience and wellness, increased confidence, better employer-employee relationships and improving communication skills.

What an exceptional opportunity for professional and personal growth!

The Role:

The owners want their team to always feel a sense of purpose and contribution and shape the future of the practice together and offer their team a place to grow. They have formed a team improvement board to encourage this. They’d like someone to come in and take the lead with the team in terms of running this, which involves getting the team together on a regular basis to discuss the practice and new ideas, a chance to voice opinions and views and encourages the team to create a shared vision and work together towards achieving goals.

There is an opportunity for someone to engage with the team from a clinical coaching and mentoring point of view too, supporting the owners in developing the skills of lesser experienced colleagues. At the same time, you wouldn’t compromise on your own clinical development as this would free up the owners time and in turn provide opportunity for him to help you develop too! They have a lot of EMS students and are passionate about building their confidence and ensuring they start their veterinary careers off in the best way possible.
